Completed in 1945 under The Temporary Housing Programme, the Phoenix prefabs were designed and manufactured by John Laing, McAlpine and Henry Boot. Grade II Listed, consent was granted in 2019 for the internal and external improvements to improve
thermal performance and longevity without losing their unique qualities. Fifteen of the prefabs are being refurbished for rehabitation and one as a museum.
